Great lamp.
Plenty of light, very sturdy and stable, easy to assemble. Two things to assist your assembly. First third pole section seems to be slightly tapered, so if it doesn’t screw in turn it over. Second metal ring is screwed into top and not packed separately. So don’t look for it in box. Finally I was able to assemble the lamp without help. Pretty good for an octogenarian. Gilbert Epstein

Good LED light – bright with 3 settings
The lamp is heavy and came with a LOT of Styrofoam packing. There are 2 pieces of glass that needed protection but the packing was overdone. Bright lighting with the low being really bright. The light switch feels cheap. I’m always turning both ways to find the on/off. The lamp could be improved with a better switch and a dimmer. I’m okay with it but not over the top with excitement.

be careful with the assembly. it is a heavy lamp, and you want to start at the bottom.
I now have 5 of these lamps scattered about the house. They are a little tricky to assemble, but worth every penny. They put out a tremendous amount of light, and are beautiful and sturdy. Be careful with the assembly. These lamps are heavy, and the threads joining the sections are not always machined smoothly. You want to manage the weight and avoid stripping any threads. Start with the base and thread the two base sections on first, using a little lubricant for the threads. If you feel the threads starting to stiffen and strip, back off and try again. the pieces will seat themselves properly. screw the top, with the bulbs inserted, into the last section and screw that assembly to the pole. Get a stepstool and carefully place the glass panels in the top, and tighten down metal retainer to hold the large glass shade in place.

A major rewrite for this itam sadly
A Complete rewrite is necessary right now in lateFebruary of 2014. I bought this lampjust a few years ago. In fact, I bought two for twodifferent houses. This year when I went to our otherresidence I found when I moved the lamp in order tovacuum the rug in the room I discovered a largeamount of crumbled cement under the lamp. When Ibought this it did not occur to mex to look under thelamp but if I had I would have seen that the manufacturerhad filled the underspace with cement in order to makethe tall lamp more stable. This is, of course, toostupid for words. Why the designer of this beautifulbut essentially ridiculous lamp would make such adumb choice is beyond me. It really was a nightmareto clean up because the rug on which it had been placedis peach colored.I threw the lamp out which truly bothered me as I ama major recycler but there was no way it could be savedor fixed by me.So, in essence, this is a really stupid lamp and a totalwaste of money. When I go back to my NYC apartment next weekI will discover what is happening to the other lamp Ibought and deal with it then.This is one sensational floor lamp.The instructions for assembly need rewriting, however.One part, which comes preassembled, doesn’t say it ispreassembled so the person putting it together has no wayof knowing what’s wrong. I, who have assembled huge piecesof furniture, along with the typical IKEA items many strugglewith, thought that two units were missing from the shipment.When I received the “missing” pieces a few days later I couldnot finish the assembly. I stared at it, took part of it apart,again, and then realized that the instructions had failed tomention that the nickel art deco “ring shaped” part they callthe “socket” was already screwed together. Once I disassembledthat part all the other pieces fit together perfectly. But ifI had not continued trying to figure it out the assembly wouldhave been impossible.When finished, this lamp is beyond beautiful if you like ArtDeco style or Modernistic fixtures. I just love this lamp.I am tempted to get another.Is this worth buying? Absolutely. The photograph does not doit justice. It’s more beautiful than the picture. And it isenvironmentally good.A great price for what looks like a piece of art.

Sturdy lamp
I love this lamp, and it looks great. Very classy and contemporary. The directions are not very helpful. Not easy to assemble. The pieces that screw together are hard to get started without cross threading.

Underwhelming for the price tag!
This light is reasonably good by itself however for the price tag it is underwhelming. My living room is 12 x 15 and I was really looking for something really bright to light up the entire room. It doesn’t really meet that need all that well. I compare it with many alternatives I’ve been through – a $85 fluorescent lamp from Home Depot, a couple of white light tube lights worth $30 and so on. Point is that the incremental jump to $300 doesn’t translate to a really powerful solution.It is good looking, but hey, if it isn’t powerful enough to justify its price tag, I can’t just appreciate its beauty.

Large, very bright torchiere
As noted previously, this torchiere is very bright. The 3 settings definitely help to moderate the illumination. The tochiere is relatively easy to assemble (need 2 people at the end to put the large glass globe in place). The lamp is substantial-looking, with an industrial, futuristic look.
