Can it be used on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S?
Yes. However, due to restrictions set by game developers, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S games cannot be run directly from the hard drive. PS4 and Xbox One/360 games, however, can be played directly on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.
What needs to be done when using it for the first time on a gaming device?
When connecting the hard drive to the gaming device for the first time, it needs to be formatted before it can be used. Please refer to the product manual or visit the Amazon product page to watch the installation video.
Why doesn’t my hard drive connect when plugged into the computer?

Solid external HDD for daily storage needs
This YOTUO external hard drive is a great storage expansion. The USB-C / USB 3.0 connection is fast and reliable — I haven’t had any issues transferring or accessing files. I needed to move a stored backup 250Gb VM off my internal SSD because it was full. My old portable SSD was too slow and corrupted the VM. My VM transferred quickly to YOTUO using USB C. VM actually runs but very slowly, If you need to run VM I reco getting an SSD external drive,

Good enough, not perfect but worth the price
Okay so I ordered 2 of these items and straight out if the box I hooked em up to my low end (2013) pc and my equally low end xbox one console. To test em out I downloaded Batman Arkham Origins ( from Gog.com) straight to the yotuo on my pc and it took a bit to allocate disk space but once it got going it ran fine- until near the end when the connection dropped. I figured, maybe it was my internet so I rebooted and it picked up where it left off. Within minutes I was gaming away on Batman Arkham origins and its been running perfectly (knock on wood) so I installed Hitman Absolution (Gog.com) and this time I had no drops and it also is running perfectly.Now… I decided to install Hitman 2 on my Xbox one with all the DLC. On the last bit of DLC it dropped. So I figured, hard reset time and again it picked right up and everything went smooth. As of this writing I am downloading Alien: Dark Descent on my Xbox one and everything seems good. So there you have it. There seems to be some birthing pains out of the box but it does what it says it does.One thing I noted: these guys get HOT. I rigged two small fans next to them to keep them cool and this seems to work. Now we’ll just see how long they last but for now- easy 4 stars. I’ll update if anything else happens in the near future.

YOTUO External Hard DriveI recently purchased the YOTUO external hard drive, and I have to say, it’s been a great addition to my tech setup. This drive is truly plug-and-play for most situations, making it incredibly user-friendly.I did come across a video where someone gave it a one-star rating when he plugged it into his game console, but I believe that was due to not following some simple additional steps. For instance, as a Mac user, I needed to partition the hard drive, which took me less than a minute.
