It’s a toy, it works like a toy
The die is hard to read, and it does not settle in the window very well. This is definitely not made like the original. It works OK, it’s a nice little thing to keep on my desk. If you think you’re gonna get one that works like you had when you were a kid think again. Although, maybe those didn’t work very well either and I’m just mis-remembering.

Gift
Was just a cute gift to add as xmas present for my daughter. Not as heavy or sturdy as my original one from my childhood but it is cute

Just like the one I had as a kid
Its fun but hard to read sometimes because of the bubbles

Not perfect, but still fun!
Something weird about the inside when you shake it. Doesn’t seem like the cube in the center shakes correctly. Not how I remember them growing up. If you’re not too picky about that, just buy for nostalgia reasons. Still it a pretty cool toy. Not too expensive as well.

Have to ask the questions out loud
I bought this as a birthday gift for my daughter. She came to me complaining that it didn’t work, kept giving the wrong answers. It didn’t come with instructions, but as a dad who’s worked with these things before, I explained that you have to ask the questions out loud. Simply *thinking* the questions didn’t work. She tried and, yes, that was the issue. It’s worked perfectly since.

Very Nostalgic, However Impossible to Read the Messages
I bought this as a gift for a work colleague because we have a running joke when we get complicated questions from our customers that we are going to ask the Magic 8 Ball. My Magic 8 Ball arrived in the cool retro box I remember as a kid. Luckily it still had an opening in the box where you could try the Magic 8 Ball, without opening the box, and see what it said in response to your question. For whatever reason the message piece of this rarely if ever showed the message against the viewing window on the bottom of the 8 Ball. I had my spouse try it and no luck. I was very lucky to notice this before wrapping it up and gifting it. Too funny, when I took to Amazon return desk, the attendant even tried it and said, she loved the old Magic 8 Balls as a kid, but this one was just not readable and apologized for me having to return it.
