The Best Smart Thermostat I’ve Seen
I love this! The installation was very well documented, with pictures and detailed instructions. And it was also quite simple. Once running, there is brief on-screen tutorial to get one familiar with the interface, which is quite easy to navigate. Through Matter, it connected to Home Assistant in a few seconds. It exposes all of its data and controls locally, which is important to me. It can be monitored and controlled by Home Assistant without an Internet connection. All that, and it’s beautiful, in my opinion, at least!

Easy setup with thoughtful smart-home features
I mounted this using the included plate and screws, which lined up easily with my existing wall opening. Connecting it to the HVAC wiring took the most time, but it was straightforward once I matched each label to the on-screen prompts. My system recognized the wiring correctly on the first try. Once powered up, it paired through the Matter setup code and appeared instantly in Apple Home. Because it supports the Matter protocol, I was able to add it to Google Home and Alexa without redoing the setup, and it still works locally on Wi-Fi even when the internet drops. The display is nicely designed, the glass front looks clean, and the brightness adjusts quietly based on the room lighting. It wakes when I walk by and stays dim the rest of the time. The included remote sensor paired in seconds and has helped monitor humidity in a room that tends to run warmer than the hallway. The occupancy detection has been accurate enough, and over time, it will help me optimize heating and cooling schedulesTemperature changes respond quickly, and the app makes it easy to adjust schedules or switch into vacation mode before heading out. The thermostat hasn’t shown any lag or overheating during daily use. Anyone upgrading should know that it requires wiring from two to eight terminals, depending on the system, but it’s compatible with most conventional and heat-pump setups as long as they are low-voltage.For the price, this smart thermostat provides a lot of value. The mix of remote sensing, accurate detection, and wide smart-home compatibility is an investment that won’t need to be upgraded so soon, plus I like that it runs reliably without needing cloud access, so even if the internet goes down, I can still adjust temperature, view settings, and use scheduled programs.

Nice upgrade
My husband replaced our late 80s thermostat (pic) with this new thermostat. It looks so much better! We weren’t sure about the plate that goes behind the thermostat but it was necessary to cover the old holes. My husband said the instructions were very good. He also liked that it came with extra pieces. He installed it in about an hour and hasn’t done this kind of work before. We tested it out afterwards and the AC and heater came on, as we changed the setting. There is some sort of app but it doesn’t really work with this device. This is fine with me as I don’t mind to set it from home. There are remote sensors we could have added but we didn’t see the need for them in our home. There was also an option to have it sense if people were in the home or not, so it would turn on or off depending on if people were home. I could see that option being helpful but we didn’t feel like we needed it.I found it understandable enough to set…whereas the one from the 80s I never could figure out how to set the time and temp. I could only turn it on and off. Lol.We have now moved forward 40 years of technology and my husband and I are happy with the results.

Lux TQX home thermostat, complete kit works w/Alexa, Matter, etc.
Lux TQX smart thermostat with matter capability, comes with room, temperature control, digital thermostat, all accessories needed, functions great easy to install, control ability works with Alexa and Google, great value for the money, functions great so far so good….. looks a little intimidating at first, but they had wonderful instruction manual that came with the entire set. Just follow that and you’ll be good to go. Every day we’re getting new smart devices to make our homes function better, save energy, and peace of mind when we’re away to be able to control anything easy as 123. This is the new world that we’re headed towards so embrace it and get on board with the best manufacturer Lux makes a wonderful product.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. BAD PRODUCT AND BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
I would give zero stars if I could.Thermostat will not connect to Google home no matter what you do. Reset, reinstall, nothing…Call customer service then you are told that you need to email for someone to give you a phone number to call.Stay far away from this product unless you want to be pulling your hair out after paying several hundred dollars.

Sleek but has some issues
I’m on the fence with this thermostat as it still has some software kinks. After installation, the temperature it was reading was 6 degrees off from the actual temperature in the house. I contacted the company about it and they said it needed an update. After updating, it reads the temperature correctly now. I have a program set but it seems to take a while to turn on and get the temperature to the settings. Example: I have it set to 69 heat and sometimes I’ll walk by the display and it’s down to 66 before it kicks on to adjust. Other than that, it seems to work okay. I had a hard time getting it to connect to the matter app but it did integrate with my Google nest. It will not display the temperature in Fahrenheit on Google nest no matter what but apparently that’s a Google issue. Installation was a little more tricky than some other units I’ve installed. I like the look and the size. The wall plate was large enough to cover my existing holes for the old thermostat. It seems a little pricey for having the issues I described and overall, I’d say it needs a little more work before it’s worth it.
