Best reasonably priced battery powered Wi-Fi thermostat!
After installation, the thermostat updated and lost the Wi-Fi signal. I reset the unit and regained the connection. In addition, it took a minute for me to get all the setting to where I was comfortable with it. I prefer not to use the scheduling, which seemed like the default setting. It is much better for me to use the fixed setting since we are a four-person household with different schedules.I did not like how the unit came packaged. There was no plastic wrapping around the unit itself or batteries. This gives the impression that you are not buying a new product. It is a better looking thermostat than most on the market. However, it could have a better feel to it. Overall, it is just a thermostat. I ordered black, which I think, looks more stylish. The optional back plate adds a nice look. The screen is a little retro. Maybe that’s what they were going for since the Nest looks like a digital 1950’s dial thermostat. It offers all the features I wanted. For example, option to use strictly batteries, controlled through Wi-Fi, and a lock out feature (wish it was password protected). The geofencing is a nice touch. Therefore, I ordered a second one for the upstairs. You can’t beat the price for all the features it has to offer. I have friends that purchased the Nest. Some of them are annoyed with it. Moreover, I think the prices are a little outrageous for the other Wi-Fi thermostats on the market.Update-mine works with Amazon Echo without the C wire hooked up

Absolutely useless!
I bought this because it was advertised as not needing a C-wire. I thought I had struck gold after the horrible experience with Vine’s smart thermostat. This was stylish and easy to connect. I couldn’t wait to download the app and kiss the days of having to run downstairs to adjust my thermostat, goodbye. And well, quite frankly, it went right on downhill from there! The app could not even find my wifi, yet kept detecting my neighbor’s wifi. So bizarre! I have a 2G network and had already uninstalled my VPN app, due to issues I had with Vine’s smart thermostat. So there shouldn’t have been any problems. So I thought okay, maybe I should restart my modem…..did just that and the same thing. Still couldn’t detect my wifi network. I was so annoyed and mad. Then I decided to read the Google Play Store reviews about the app, and boy were the reviews brutal!!!Apparently, there was some sort of app update last year, rendering the wireless function obsolete. I was stunned! This thermostat should NOT at all be marketed as wifi capable because that’s deceptive marketing.Needless to say, I returned it for a refund and purchased the Sensei smart thermostat. The installation, wifi connection and app function for that was smooth and flawless! I almost passed out because I had finally found one that works!Don’t throw this much money away for a thermostat that you’ll end up using as a manual/non-smart thermostat. You can get a manual thermostat pretty cheap.I feel sorry for those who aren’t able to return this for a full refund since they’ve had it for so long, but make no mistake, they abso-freakin-lutely deserve a refund! This company really should make it their top priority to implement widespread refunds because they’re selling lemons and have let their customers down!4 star deduction for this rubbish, due to deceptive marketing as wifi capable but in actuality, is not. Save yourselves headaches and nightmares and don’t buy this junk.Trust me, no matter how hard you try or any steps you take, you won’t be able to connect this to your wifi network because it will never find it! Read the Google Play Store reviews about the app and see for yourselves!

Great thermostat for the price…until they brick the unit (4 year update)
Update 4 years later:The company pushed an update out this week and now one of my thermostats will not connect to the app. Any changes I make via the app do not get pushed to the thermostat. I called support and they weren’t very helpful. They said to wait a week and see if anything changes. I understand that my unit is about 4 years old but having a unit get bricked because of an update they pushed doesn’t seem right. It was working perfectly fine up until the day they pushed out the update. Also they updated the mobile app but they seem to have taken out some useful features. Plus they removed the ability to control the units from their website. That was convenient rather than having to grab my phone.Original review belowEasy to set up and configure. It’s great to be able to control the thermostat from anywhere. Installation is a breeze as long as you label all the wires properly when disconnecting your old thermostat. The iPhone app works great as well as the website. One thing that isn’t all that useful is their “How You Stack Up” reports. It’s basically a comparison of your usage versus nearby homes. I went on vacation for a week and had all the systems off. Checking the report said that my usage was only better than 58% of the homes. Not sure how that’s calculated considering my system was completely off for the week. But that wouldn’t stop me from recommending this to anyone in the market for a wifi thermostat. It’s got an easy to use app that allows you to schedule the heat and cool periods in any way you like from the basic weekdays/weekends to a completely customized schedule.

Bought this product because of the battery option. One of the few that will work on a millivolt system on my gas fireplace.Easy install. Follow the instructions and it worked like a charm. Little worried about battery life, but time will tell. Will add to my review in six months about this.Definitely recommend this product.Kieva

I bought this thermal stat because it has option of running on battery, has option of plugging into power from USB power, and because of the wifi and programming. I must say I am very disappointed.1st the USB power plug is a addon, and the batteries literally lasted me 2 weeks2nd the app for scheduling really needs a lot of work! When trying to set it up from home and away it keeps going to a different temp than what you set it up for. I ended up having to set it up from the thermal stat itself. And don’t even try Geo tracking because it will throw the temperature way out.We set this up in our cabin, so that we could control the heat at low temps from home so pipes don’t freeze in winter. Set temp at 13c left the cabin and got home and checked the temp a turn which shot up to 25c with out us touching it and not even close to the schedule temp this thing has a mind of it’s own!Long story short we ended up disabling the schedule and leaving the temp at 13c 2 weeks later it kept saying it had no wifi so we drove out to find the screen black the batteries had died. Wow I’ve had other thermal stats use batteries last over a year!I expected more from this over priced thermal stat. And have to say Lux needs to work on thisUpdate Lux Thermostat quite working again after the 5th time as it was defective we replaced it with a Nest returned LuxWould not recommend this product!

One of the very few wifi thermostats that will work in an older home with 2 wire connectivity! Wifi runs off batteries -you can set sensitivity and it alerts you when batteries running down. App is clunky but gets job done. Usually a delay between using via wifi and thermostat changes -manual is quicker. App allows you to pre-program for consistency. Wall mounted device easy to access. Physical mechanism of wall mounted device very LED / B&W / vague -anachronistic. I would love to give this a 5/5 stars simply because it is a wifi thermostat that works in older homes with 2 wire systems (somewhat remarkable!) but the physical interface is very dated.
