The Kidde Smoke Detector & Carbon Monoxide Detector Combo with 10-Year Battery, model P3010K-CO, provides two fire safety detectors in one unit through the use of photoelectric sensing technology that senses visible fire particles, while an electrochemical sensor detects carbon monoxide. When a smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide event occurs, the Kidde fire alarm warns with an 85-decibel alarm sound & a flashing LED. The Kidde combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarm is powered by a 10-year lithium battery, which eliminates the need for battery replacement while providing coverage during a power failure. In the case of a nuisance or a false alarm, the Smart-Hush button silences the unit for approximately 8 minutes, which is helpful when this smoke detector carbon monoxide detector combo sounds from things like routine cooking or shower steam. When installed, the green LED on the alarm will flash every 60 seconds in standby condition, letting you know that the unit has power & is operating correctly. Install a carbon monoxide smoke detector combo on every level of your home and near bedrooms to help keep your family safe. UL Certified with a 10-year limited manufacturer’s warranty. Meets requirements of UL 2034, UL217, NFPA72, (chapter 11 2002 edition) The State of California Fire Marshal, NFPA101 (One and two family dwellings) Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
2-in-1 Detection – Smoke & carbon monoxide detector combo alerts you to both smoke & fire events as well as poisonous, CO gas in a single device
Photoelectric sensor detects visible fire particles associated with slow, smoldering fires, while the electrochemical sensor detects carbon monoxide
An 85-decibel alarm sounds & a red LED indicates the smoke detector is sensing smoke or fire
Lithium battery operated: eliminates the need for battery replacement & provides reliable detection, even during power outages
Test-Hush button makes it easy to test the smoke detector and silence false alarms that occur from cooking or shower steam
The alarm will automatically activate when it is attached to the mounting bracket, there are no pull tabs, no switches, everything is automatic
At the end of alarm life, the unit will chirp, indicating the alarm is in need of replacement
UL listed with a 10-Year limited manufacturer warranty on the alarm only (not a battery performance claim). Warranty begins when the alarm is powered on. If that date is unknown, it should be assumed that replacement is needed.

Installed quite easily
The previous Kidde Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector that was installed nearly 11 years ago was beginning to chirp every minute. I did all the usual steps of changing batteries and cleaning with an air compressor, but it was obvious the unit needed to be replaced. The previous Kidde unit was a hardwired one with a battery as a backup. I chose this unit because it had the 10 year Lithium battery and was not hardwired. The installation was easy and done in just minutes. It covered the existing area of the old unit perfectly. Obviously I can’t comment on the battery life, since I installed it only yesterday. I like that it does not require being hardwired. After installation I tested the unit and it works perfectly and is just as loud as the previous unit. Good purchase. I would recommend.

Works
This item is sleek and nicely fits into a room’s decor. When installed, I expected to see a green light after testing, but it kept showing a red light. I called the company and found out that this smoke alarm/carbon monoxide detector would only show red. So as long as it goes through the testing stage, after installation, you are good to go.BTW, reaching out to the company was a breeze. I was able to talk to a real person right away.

Saved our lives
Way back in 2014, I received an earlier version of this product as a thank you for working a safety event. It was our first carbon monoxide detector. I installed it easily with batteries and a mounting plate, tested it, all good. Fast forward to December. We’ve just arrived home from a trip out of town. We’re carrying our luggage in the house when… “Carbon monoxide detected… carbon monoxide detected…”After a brief chat about what to do, we loaded three people and five cats back into the car and went to a hotel down the street for the night. A technician came to our house the next day to find the culprit – our old furnace. He had a little meter that measured how much of the gas was present, and to our horror, assured us that if we hadn’t gone to a hotel, we would’ve gone to bed and never woken up.So buy this thing, buy one for every room, because continuing to be alive is definitely a five star rating!

This thing saved my family’s lives
I bought this a few years ago because I needed a smoke detector, but I also wanted CO detection. I always wondered if it actually worked, as I am prone to do with things that only do something in an emergency. I got my answer in the wee hours of yesterday morning: Our power was out for almost a week, in a dangerous heat wave. We have a generator to run essentials like fridges and freezers, and we also plugged in a small window unit AC because it was that dangerously hot. At one point we moved the generator to what we thought was a better location, neglecting one vital detail: just above that spot was an attic vent.Everyone was asleep, and around 4am my brother and I were awoken by a very loud BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP we had never heard before. Once we figured out it was my Kidde detector, we were confused. The generator had been running all week, and we’ve never had a CO alarm go off before. No one has symptoms. We had another CO detector, and it wasn’t going off. Was the Kidde one defective? We took it outside, it stopped beeping. Back in the house: BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP. Oh, it’s not defective. Called 911, shooed the rest of the family out of the house. Firemen arrive, and they praise our quick response: Inside the house the CO level had risen to 40 ppm, a dangerous level over time, but the attic was a whopping 200 ppm. We could have died if we had ignored the alarm. As it was they urged all of us to go to the emergency room. You know how in the US you can tell how bad off you are by how fast the ER starts treating you? They had all five of us on oxygen within minutes of walking in the door. Let me reiterate: none of us had symptoms of CO poisioning, not even our chronically ill members, but we all had elevated blood levels. The other detector we had DID go off, but not until it had been placed in a room with a window near where the generator was. Needless to say, I’ve already ordered another Kidde unit and will probably acquire more in the future.

Built in Lithium Battery. Long Lasting.
Works for about 10 years. Will chirp when it is ready for replacement. Big box store (HD) sells this in plastic retail packaging for 50% more. If you order this from Amazon (I ordered the double pack) it arrives in labeled cardboard packaging. It comes with instructions and mounting screws. I also includes the mounting plate. You screw it into your ceiling and once the plate is secure, it is a quarter turn clockwise to lock it in place and to activate. In 10+ years it will chirp and you reverse the process and buy a new one. Don’t be fooled into thinking that the ones that take 9v or AA batteries will last indefinitely with battery changes… they still wear out and will chirp when they need replacement. These are effective and save you the hassle of frequent battery changes.

Lasted less than a year
I only had this smoke/carbon monoxide alarm for 10 months before it started malfunctioning! It started going off randomly in the middle of a work call (I’m remote) and I had to end a meeting early. It was the smoke beep (3 long) not carbon monoxide (4 long) and by the time I got on a step stool to get it, it had stopped. I checked around and obviously there was no smoke, no fire, I even checked outside because the window on the other side of the room was open, but NOTHING. Then as I was ready to call my boss back there it went again. NO REASON! There’s also no way of opening it, or removing the batteries and the hush only works for a couple of minutes. I took it down from the ceiling and waited for it to go off again. Of course it didn’t, not until 4 days later, again no smoke, no one even cooking, nothing! What an absolute piece of GARBAGE!

Easy to use just turn it on the supplied mounting bracket and it activated

Simply install the back plate on a wall (high enough) or the ceiling with the supplied screws.Remove the plastic cover from the detector; it will beep once, loudly. Watch your ears. There is nothing else you need to do for the next 10 years!
