Good to kick Nest/Google Protect to the curb
Easy install. Good replacement for Nest Protects. Compatible with Ring. Downside is that it doesn’t interface with thermostats to shut off air movement in a fire. Still, one less intrusive Google product.

Easy to install and sensitive to carbon monoxide as well as smoke and vaping
Super simple to install and replaced the old one that had yellowed and well, probably wasn’t working.. it had been 20 years. It is super efficient- it detected vaping!

Easy Setup & Good features
Easy set up. I haven’t needed it so far and hopefully never will, so I can’t speak to it’s reliability but that said it’s good peace of mind and a big upgrade to our older out dated detectors that came with the house.

Great product
Item works as expected, very pleased with the purchase. It actually has already worked by being set off accidentally by a hot shower steam.

We’ll see
First off, Kidde is a powerhouse in the fire extinguisher and detector arena. I’ve used many of their products over the years, and have currently 4 of their extinquishers in my home and garage. I have confidence in this company due to their vast experience, so there is no doubt this will work as advertised and alert you to CO and fire dangers in your home. I would venture that anyone reading this review has had some experience with their products (at least in the US), they’re that dominant. So while I don’t have issues with the expected performance of this detector, I am getting so fed up with EVERYTHING having to be connected for ‘smart home’ functionality. I’m not against smart home devices, but I also do not want to relenquish all control I have to a device to operate autonomously. Case in point: I initially fell in love with the Nest smoke/CO detectors when they first hit the scene. I loved that I could silence one from activating over burned toast from my phone. I even silenced one from overseas that was experiencing a low battery state in a very high ceiling in our bedroom when it activated in the middle of the night freaking my wife out. All of that is good. But what I didn’t know is that all CO detectors have a lifespan set by well, who knows? What could expire that would prevent them from doing their job years from now? The Nest detectors cost me $300 each when they came out, so I had a lot of money invested in them – about $2,000! Well, come to find out that whatever it is that allegedly goes stale and will interfere with CO detection caused ALL of my Nest devices to start beeping one after the other because the CO component had expired, requiring each unit to be replaced. And the worst part is you can’t even continue to use them as smoke detectors while you work to replace them all. Ridiculous. So this Kidde unit does have an app that seems similar to the Nest app, offering some of the same functionality. Whether it will allow me to use it solely as a smoke detector once the CO component conveniently dies, requiring replacement, remains to be seen. But I will say this, the build quality and design is as good as the Nest, and we all know the Kidde reputation for solid performance. So for a quarter of the price, having to replace these won’t be nearly as painful as the Nest devices.

Extremely easy to install and set-up
Install and setup brainless.. (Made simple because I already had Ring devices set up in the home.)

Do not buy unless you love it beeping for everything under the sun
Zero isn’t low enough stars. I bought this with the express purpose to never hear a low battery or “firmware update” or whatever beep ever again unless it’s a fire. I install the stupid thing and it beeps because of a “firmware update”. I don’t care about stupid wifi, I don’t care about “monitoring” I want a stupid fire alarm that doesn’t have stupid beeps. Why is it so hard these awful companies to make something that doesn’t freaking beep? I can’t believe I wasted 75 on this to have additional “beeps” and an invasive sign up process.

Easy to install Kidde / Ring Smoke & CO Detector
Connection to my existing Ring app was easy. It updated to the latest firmware as soon as it connected to my WiFi. You can see the status right on the main page of the Ring app.
