It gets the job done with patience a few frustrations.It does get my phone out of my hand and off the desk. I like using it for top down pictures. This is where the frustration can start. The arm is super rigid, which is nice. Getting it into the perfect position takes a bit of time, and the clip at the end holds the phone only so-so. I use a Samsung S21 Ultra at the moment and it seems to be right at the far end of the weight this thing can hold. I even have to take it out of the case.Every time I adjust the phone end, the clamp at the desk moves- and vice versa. So that clamp needs better grip strength too.Lastly, the bounce. It bounces like crazy. Slightest touch and the video looks like it was shot from a rowboat on choppy waves. I can get around this at home using my pc to control the phone. But every time you touch the phone, you must wait for the rowboat to stop rocking.It did solve the problem I set out to solve with it, but gave me about 2 or 3 new and different problems to replace it.

Strong phone holder that holds a lot more than just a phone
I use this gooseneck phone holder maybe a little unconventionally. I recently got an outdoor wireless camera to observe wildlife that come through my yard, and I needed a way to mount the camera somewhere that wasn’t permanent – I wanted to be able to clip it to my fence, or to a tree, or to the edge of my flower bed. This has worked out great! The clamp has a rubber pad, so it holds on tightly to the webcam on one end, and tightly to whatever I clamp it to on the other end. It opens wide enough to hold my webcam, and it would hold the widest phone made. It stays in place really well too – the gooseneck part doesn’t move until you want it to – and then it moves in whatever shape or position you want. Solidly made and I can see using this for a long time. Because I am using it outdoors, I do expect the metal parts may eventually rust, but that’s to be expected.

Not sturdy enough
I have an iphone ProMax and it cannot support the weight. I need the clamp to hold my phone over my bed or side table, had to give up on the side table as it was dropping to a point I can’t see the phone, I had to clamp it on my headboard so high so when it drops it is not on my face as I am laying on my bed.
