Ah, where to start in reviewing my new Godox LP400Bi? I’m going with packaging. No, not the cardboard box, which was plenty adequate, of course, but the very high-quality semi-hard case that Godox supplies. I love a manufacturer that understands how we use the gear they make, how we like to store it, the ease with which we want to access it and, most of all, the importance of protecting our investment. Godox has nailed it with this case. It meets all of those needs, plus offers a classy, professional look when seen by clients.The LP400Bi’s variable color temperature, 2800K–6500K, covers the whole range that I need, from cool to warm, making it possible to create a particular mood or just to coordinate with other light sources, such as daylight through a window or practicals on set.A collection of FX has become almost expected in today’s LED video/photography lights. And Godox included 11 of the most popular of these to add some realism to your video projects.The LP400Bi is a great addition to my nearly all Godox lighting system, and being able to control it and the other Godox instruments from the same Godox app is a huge convenience. Another reason I’m now reaching for the LP400Bi in many situations is the form factor. The slim, shallow design allows it to fit into spaces that are inconvenient or even impossible for many traditional form factor lights. Hey, I love softboxes, but sometimes there just isn’t space to put them where they’re needed. The small size and light weight also expand the mounting options. Rather than a C-stand, I can grab a much more portable collapsible stand, or even a clamp attached to some existing structure at the shoot location.The barn doors add considerable control over the unwanted spread of light and are easily removable when not needed. They go back on just as easily: slide the barn door assembly back onto the face of the light panel and lock it in place with two handy buttons. It’s about a 3-second operation.A light fixture this portable would be incomplete if it could not be battery powered. I couldn’t be happier with the powering options. First, the LP400Bi comes with an AC power supply, and that’s great when power is readily accessible. But the panel will also operate off of two Sony-type NP-F batteries, which most of us who do any video already own. It does require that two batteries be used and will not operate off of just one. My choice is a pair of the NP-F970 batteries which will keep me in power through most any shoot that I’m likely to take on. At my age, I wear down faster than those big-boy batteries.The LP400Bi is well suited to both video and still photography. The first uses that come to mind for my photography include portraiture, where this light can work well as a key, fill, hair/separation or background light. I’ve already had great results with mine doing product and other still life photography. Similarly, this is a great choice for food photography. I’ve also been enjoying lighting macro shots, indoors and out. I’ll add some very close-up flower photos I lit with the LP400Bi.The video applications are myriad: streaming, vlog creation, highlighting background areas to produce interest and dimension, lifting shadows on a face, the list goes on.For photography or video, one could build a very compact, affordable, high-performance system from two, maybe three of these. Or, perhaps, two of this model and one LP400R for adding color to backgrounds and such. Add stands and a 5-in-1 kit for reflecting, blocking or diffusing/making a light source appear larger, plus, perhaps, a pop-up backdrop, and your mobile studio is pretty complete.I’m sure Godox would be happy to let you move up in power within the same LP-series of lights, should you want to do so and should your budget allow, but if you’re not needing to overcome bright ambient light, the LP400Bi will do an amazing job.Once again, Godox did not disappoint. The LP400Bi is an excellent performer that greatly simplifies many lighting tasks while not doing any significant damage to my wallet. That’s worth an easy 5-star rating!

Good pro lights for small spaces
These two together are extremely powerful for content creators. I wish they came with a soft box or something to diffuse it more but nothing bad to say but you may have to make sure that panels are not upside down.

Great lights, excellent quality!
The Godox LP600Bi Bicolor LED Video Lights are really good, solid build, great lighting quality, and they come very well packaged. The only reason I’m returning them is because they’re a bit small for my particular setup. But honestly, the quality and presentation are top-notch. If the size works for your needs, you’ll love them!

Good for product photography
I’ve been using a pair of these lights to photograph furniture for my online sales business. It has great brightness & flexibilry in warm to cool light.
