Slim, attractive LED panels are easy to install and highly efficient
I’m a huge fan of LEDs, which finally (after over 50 years of development!) are capable of room lighting. They are better in every way.I tested several LED panel lights for a building upgrade. First, I’ll list what they all have in common, then unique features for this one.In common: Compared to traditional fluorescent lights or—horrors!—incandescent, there is no comparison. All the LED panels are bright and even, come on instantly, and last for years. Their light is very even and pleasant. Power consumption is similar to fluorescents, better than CFLs, and hugely better than incandescent light.I don’t have a way to measure color rendition (CRI) but I did look at color swatches and the light from all of them look very good, to my eye. All have ways to change the color temperature from warm (2500 or 3000°K) to daylight or cooler (5000-6500°K). Some lights can be dimmed with an external dimmer, or with a switch on the back of the light.Most support 0-10 V dimming, a way to run a low voltage signal to many LEDs at once, from specially equipped dimmers.They are small, thin, lightweight panels that are just one-inch thick, weigh next to nothing, and are easy to install but pay attention to recommended mounting methods. Some suspend easily in a drop or suspended ceiling, some can be suspended from chains, and some mount directly to a ceiling using screws in studs or anchors.—The AIKSVER 1’x4′ is slim and very bright for its size, 5500 lumens. Suitable for task lighting, such as above a workbench or a lab bench. (It is half the size, but more than half the lumens, of their 7700-lumen 2×4 panel.)The manufacturer says this panel can be dimmed using an LED-compatible dimmer and suggests two specific Leviton and Lutron models. (I did not test this.)Power and color temperature are adjustable by switching the power on and off according to timing specified in the instructions.Don’t lose the instructions! Dimming and color temp setting procedures are not on the product description page. If someone accidentally changes the setting, they may think the light is defective and not know that it can be changed, let alone how.The panel mounts most easily using screws directly through the bezel and into the ceiling. There are two rings on one edge to hold the light up while you fiddle with the screws to attach it permanently—nice touch. A cardboard template is available for marking the holes. You could suspend by cables or chains but would have to devise a way to attach those to the light.

Simple, lightweight, and provides a selection of lighting color
I ordered a 1-pack of this 1×4 LED Flat Panel Ceiling Light from AIKVSXER to install in my shed. It is very lightweight, but constructed rigid enough that it does not bow or twist when installing it. A template for locating the mounting screw locations is included and has a cutout in the center for you to locate your electrical box. Mounting hardware is all included with an option for toggle bolts or drywall anchors. Of course, you can use just the screws if you are mounting to a wood surface. There are two cables provided to hold the light while installing it, but I did not use them.The lighting from this panel is nice and even. I like the ability to select one of the three color temperatures to match the task that I am working on. The ability to dim the lights is another nice feature. I used a GE Z-wave dimmer so that I could set up automations and control the light remotely. This is a very nice, all-inclusive light panel that is easy to install and use. It does exactly what it is suppose to do with little fuss. I would highly recommend this light if it fits your needs.

AVOID if mounting in drywall ceiling unless you like patching drywall
Looking to replace a few fixtures (basement/kitchen) and this seemed like a good value for four pieces. Didn’t realize I would have to do more drywall work, who has time for that?? The light itself looks really good, however the mounting holes are WAY too close to the edge.The hanging system to hold it up while you work on it is also really fiddly. Meaning the little metal clips and suspension wires are a pain to clip on. The light I was replacing had a bracket which was superior.Used the included template (which was accurate) to locate drill the specified 12mm (15/32”) holes. Made electrical connections and mounted it, but since the holes for the mounts are too close to the edge, there are now visible holes in the drywall around the light. See pictures.If you are mounting directly to wood or something else where you don’t need a toggle/drywall anchor these might work for you. Even if you used a screw in drywall anchor the edge of the anchor would show as the mounting holes is entirely too close to the edge.If the mounting holes were centered in the design, it might have not been a problem. It’s obvious from the pictures how close the mounting holes are to the edge. Poor design.Now I have to patch these visible holes, return these lights and find a suitable replacement.

The light in my kitchen was fluorescent and outdated so I ordered this. What an amazing improvement. Not only is this energy efficient, it’s bright, sleek, and a welcome improvement. I shouldn’t have waited so long

Bright Light, Dim Instructions
The AIKVSXER 1×4 LED Flat Panel definitely delivers on brightness—this thing lights up a room like a mini sun. It’s slim, modern-looking, and the dimmable feature works well with the right setup. Once it’s up, it does its job.That said, getting it installed is another story. The instructions are vague at best, and if you’re not already handy, you might find yourself scratching your head (or watching a few YouTube videos). The color temperature toggle is also a bit clunky—it only cycles between two temps, and you have to flip the switch on and off quickly to change them. Not exactly intuitive.Also, there’s zero guidance on what kind of wall switch is best for controlling it. A little more clarity from the manufacturer would go a long way.Overall, it’s a solid light once it’s in place, but be ready for some guesswork getting there.

Great low profile LED light
I was having a hard time finding a low enough profile LED light for our low ceilings in my basement. Came across this and it’s great. Very easy to install and mount. The brightness isn’t too bright or too dim (my last lights were overwhelmingly bright). Seems well made and like it will last. I wouldn’t hesitate to pick one up again.
