These are replacing dinosaur aged smoke and separate carbon monoxide detectors. Easy to install. Loud enough to hear the ones in the basement from upstairs, good quality and functionality. Straight forward and easy to use. Peace of mind knowing we have updated detectors for safety.

UL Listed for Smoke Only, so if you have no Gas Appliances, these are great. (Code requires CO alarms even with No Gas Appliances in many States, so these are fine … this assumes you are not the rare person that uses a Propane BBQ Indoors)

These don’t comply with UL 217
These alarms appear to be a good deal, but the problem for me is that they are uncertified CO & smoke alarms. There’s no UL or ETL labeling, no manufacturer information (other than “Made In China”), no model number, no date of manufacture, and no end of service life date. A fire inspector would fail these alarms on the spot for being noncompliant.Amazon has said, “We require all fire alarms listed in the store to comply with UL 217, and we work to verify compliance by consulting reliable third party sources.” (per NYTimes Wirecutter Oct. 02, 2025). These units do not comply.Maybe they work great, but I’m not installing them in my house. They’ve been returned.
